Vogrie Country Park

11.5 miles of signed countryside paths through woodlands and the Tyne Valley. Tree Top Café with Soft Play area, adventure play park area and toddlers play park, picnic areas and open lawns in the Victorian Policy areas. Regular activities such as pond dips for children are organised by the Ranger Service. Free resource boxes are available to all, full of useful equipment to pond dip, mini beast hunt or to explore the nature of the park.

Dalkeith Country Park

23 min drive - 11.7 miles

1,000 Acres to explore! You can explore this beautiful park on foot with one of the waymarked walking routes including the Wilderness Walk or Riverside Walk suitable for all abilities! Fort Douglas Adventure playground offers fun for all the family. The Restoration Yard next to Fort Douglas offers a variety of eating options and shops where you can browse fashion, homewares, luxury food and drink, kids, books, furniture, beauty and more. Dalkeith Country Park also houses ‘Go Ape’ Treetop Adventure!! (See Adrenaline Activities Below)

Pentland Hills Regional Park has 100km of waymarked paths, including challenging hill walks and routes more suitable for families.





Borthwick Castle

23 min drive -13 miles

Borthwick Castle and Currie Woods is a 3.1 kilometer loop trail located 15 minute walk/5 minute drive from the property, and features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and running and is accessible year-round
